This week’s herb in our summer Sunday herbs series is rosemary!
Confession: With this herb, I always think of first episode of The L Word. Jenny accepts rosemary from Tina’s garden and makes an odd show of smelling it, which is later recreated in the last season, when they’re making the Les Girls movie.
Since canola oil used to be called rapeseed oil (and can you blame the name change?) I assumed they’re one and the same. But a reader pointed out to me they’re not. So of course, I had to check it out further.
In The Herb and Spice Bible, sweet marjoram is grouped together with oregano because they’re so closely related, so we’re going to be examining that herb as well.
My parents have given Blue Apron a shot, and they let me try one of the meals.
If you aren’t already aware, companies like Blue Apron and Plated deliver refrigerated boxed meals along with the recipe straight to your home. All of the ingredients in the exact proportions you need.
This is turkey steam buns with quick cucumber-radish kimchi, recipe here.
Ingredients:
10 oz ground turkey
6 Chinese steam buns
6 oz radishes
3 garlic cloves
3 scallions
1 English cucumber
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp ground bean sauce
1 1-inch piece ginger
1 1/4 tbsp gochugaru
You will also need a little bit of olive oil, and salt and black pepper.
Keep in mind, these ingredients were delivered on a Wednesday, and I received them Saturday – they still look insanely fresh.
